How did ClassAndComp.com come about?

The idea for the service came from the needs expressed by our clients, and the frustrations encountered trying to gather information while conducting compensation studies for them. Having a long background in public-sector human resources management, the firm's President knows that these frustrations have been around for many years. Public agencies often do not have staff available to respond to survey requests. Even though agencies would like to respond, often time-constraints demand that these requests be placed on the bottom of priority lists. With the advent of the world-wide-web, the time seemed right for a web-based service designed to streamline the sharing of public agency compensation data.

How can ClassAndComp.com make my life easier?

What is the cost to join ClassAndComp.com?

Remember, access to data is free of charge, even for non-members. Fees for member agencies are comprised of an initial, one-time set-up fee plus an annual maintenance fee. These fees are based on the number of agency classifications. There are no long-term commitments required, but set-up fee discounts are available for multi-year agreements. Why would my agency want to pay to be a member for others to get free information?

My agency already has its data online. Why would we want to be a member?

How do we join ClassAndComp.com as a member agency?

It's easy. There is a short agreement that we both sign that outlines our mutual understandings. Then you just provide us with your compensation data (salaries, benefits and bargaining agreements) and job descriptions. We do the rest; we do all the online data entry.

How do I get my agency's information to you?

We do all of the online data entry. We prefer to receive the information electronically by email in Microsoft Word format. However, we can manually input data such as job descriptions for an increased set-up fee. Give us a call at 415.884.0544 to discuss pricing specific to your agency.

What happens when our agency's information changes?

As part of the set-up process, your agency will appoint a contact person. We will contact them quarterly to obtain any updated information, which we enter online. If your agency's information changes more often, all you need to do is let us know and send us the changes, so we can do the online updates.

What if not all of our job descriptions are up-to-date?

That's ok. We will post online only that data you want to be viewed. If information is updated later, just let us know and we will post the updates online at that time.

How accurate is the data on ClassAndComp.com?

Every effort is made to assure accurate and up-to-date data. Each member agency's salary book shows the effective date of the salaries, so you know how current they are. We double check all data entry, and then ask our member agencies to triple check the data. We contact our member agencies quarterly for updates, plus they can provide updates to us at any other time. What if I have a question that is not answered on the website?
